Forget the Revolution, check out full contact karate

Thought this tidbit was interesting. Seems as though scientists in Finland are working on a video games that pits you against a virtual opponent in kung-fu, but with a twist. Unlike traditional console games, this takes it to a whole new level by matching your real life movements with your character on screen, or in some similar fashion.

Here’s the article: http://www.newscientisttech.com/article.ns?id=dn9092&feedId=online-news_rss20

In light of the new Nintendo Revolution (or Wii), I think we’ll see a shift in video games in the next decade or so away from the joystick aspect and into the truly interactive aspect. Dance Dance Revolution was only the first step, this might very well be the next.

Hey, if it gets kids active and helps people lose weight, I’m all for it.

By the way, make sure to look at an enlarged version of the picture with the article to see who the kung-fu guy is fighting on the screen. I got a good chuckle out of it.
